Issue 15: My Health Journey
Sophie's Note after Hiatus
Hi friends,
Long time! I’ve been in hiatus for a few weeks. Maybe I should change this into not weekly. And something more of personal notes style.
1. Health Stuff
First is always health. I decided to take more preventive care this year, so when we moved to Dallas this year in January, together with my family, I started to take Life Force blood test and then Prenuvo - a full body MRI Scan and then I recently went in for a women wellness appointment which included pap smear.
My pap smear got an abnormal result then I went to a Gynecologist - let’s call her M, to get colposcopy and biopsy, Dr M said colposcopy looks good, but biopsy a few weeks later result in a CIN2 which is a second stage of pre-cancerous cells on the cervix, also I’m positive for a high risk HPV. Dr M told me to schedule a LEEP which is a surgical procedure to cut that part out.
That drove me into researching about CIN2 and HPV. I went to another doctor to get second opinion, Dr S told me that there are many patients with HPV and CIN2 is not super urgent just need to be monitored and if I don’t want to do LEEP in a hospital spending few thousands of dollar on facility and anesthesia then we can do a cryotherapy where he can freeze and kill these cells on the cervix, that would cost me about $200 to do with my current insurance.
I was stressed out. 😰
Another thing in the picture was my husband lost his job, we got 2 more months on the old insurance which costs our family $2,000 a month if we pay without W2 after September.
I did not know what to do and had so much anxiety and uncertainty. 😭
I read so many research papers and Reddit aside from doing what I do daily managing our funds, talking to investors, talking to partners, networking, find other ways to create more income since we lost the income on my husband side.
Health stress is real, when I got sick, I just want to be well, all my energy I just want to focus on that but I couldn’t.
Losing my husband side of the income add up on to us the stress of … how do I create that income per month now, what do we cut out of our monthly spending to not depend on that job income anymore. Now that tech lay offs happen so frequent and many people around us also got laid off, we’re not sure when he can land another job now.
Writing my little newsletter got pushed to the last line of my To-do List. 🥹
Plus I also don’t want to write a story with no end.
Still now, it will be an open end but at least when I’m writing this, I decided on a solution for my abnormal cells.
After meeting Dr. S talking about cryotherapy, I went home and get lost on Reddit again researching, I ran into one thread that this girl uses 5-ALA (chemical to stain abnormal or cancer cells) and PDT (light laser treatment) for herself. This type of treatment was done in Asia, EU, Mexico but not in the US. It is used a lot for skin cancerous cells.
5-ALA is the chemical that brain tumor patients swallow to “light up” the cancerous cells in their brain for surgeon to remove them.
I just purchased that chemical online. Same with the laser light can generate the beam of 635nm to use for my own treatment.
Next week, I’ll begin my own journey of treating my abnormal cells at home with the help of my husband.
How did I onboard my family and my husband to this? 😅
Well, it was tough, we had so many arguments, even with my mom, it’s tough for me to have unconventional thinking and refuse to submit to whatever norm, and it’s tough for them to have an immediate family member like that.
Why don’t you just listen and do whatever doctor tells you to do, Sophie? 😱
It’s tough to be my family, sometimes, it’s very uncomfortable to deal with the speed with things happened in my research and decisions in my head.
For me, a lot of the time, I feel not understood, and longing to be normal and feel like I belong as an unconventional thinker and risk taker. That’s why I get addicted to events (read Tony Robbin’s or spiritual retreats) where I can meet and connect deeply with other entrepreneurs.
I asked the girl on Reddit - Nika to schedule a Zoom call with her husband and us. That Zoom call was just so cool where they shared how they do this themselves and her new result after 5 treatment sessions encouraged us.
Nika herself was a researcher as well in the bio world and just moved to the US from Europe.
My husband was put more at ease. 🥹
I can put links to 10 scientific papers showing better results from 5-ALA PDT treatment compared to LEEP for high risk HPV patients here but I don’t want to bore you out if you’re not a researcher like me.
Also the fight with HPV is a long term fight with how to become happier, so happy that my immune system will get so strong and eliminate all these virus.
I’m also changing my diet to more hard core way less carb and filled with green leaves. I’m taking supplements focusing on eliminating HPV as well.
2. Wealth Stuff
Remember The Milo apartment deal where price per unit is less than 71K?
The great numbers of the deal now got confirmed by its 2nd quarter report that the average new rent is almost $1300/month.
Best thing is there’s still an opportunity for you to invest in this deal, we will accept a couple more spots on this deal.
I’m really happy with this deal and now I’m on the hunt for deals like this to buy.
Also I’ve been researching about network marketing business and here I found a very interesting page of data about the industry.
3. Book Stuff
I’ve been reading “Napoleon Hill Master Course: The Original Science of Success” on my phone Kindle every time I fly and I read and re-read those principles. One part is about “Six qualities of an Employee”
These are qualities to look for in an employee or any partner you would take on to work and build your business with!
Loyalty
Dependability
Ability to do the job
Positive mental attitude
Going the extra mile
Applied faith
It' seems simple but the last 2 qualities are rare and hard to find. Those are also qualities that I constantly need to work on to improve for myself!
So if you have something that I can go the extra mile to help you with, please let me know, I’m in training for that.
Also if you have some practice to improve our faith in our wellness, success and happiness, please let me know!
4. Relationship Stuff
I have a Virtual Meet Up for Real Estate Investor every Tuesday 10am on Zoom and livestream on Facebook where we look at and underwrite current deals on the market. It keeps me and our group of people plugged in and keep going on our journey of acquiring more commercial real estate deals.
I’ve also organizing Asian Hustle Network Meet up every month in Dallas. It’s a lot of fun to gather a group of Asian business owners together and just make friends and share.
I’ve also been to many networking event like SubTo Meet up in DFW and Brad Sumrok’s bus tour, learned and met wonderful people.
I’m also finishing up this Newsletter in Tulum spending time celebrating my husband birthday!
June and Sasha at our Airbnb after we napped until sunset yesterday
Happy birthday, Sasha!
Today we’ll start with breakfast at our friend’s cafe and then beach club and another special thing is we have our best friends here with us.
I’m ready to close the chapter of hiatus now that after Tulum I’ll be on the journey of healing and treatment.
Sasha and June took this while they’re in bed and I’m writing this
That’s it! Thank you for reading and I love you all!
